Mintüb Hosts Assisted Animal Reproduction Seminars in Indonesia

Indonesia is one of the most important markets for technologies in Animal Assisted Reproduction in South East Asia, thus creating a huge demand to exchange experiences regarding the latest technologies. In partnership with our subsidiary Minitube Indonesia, two seminars were held by experts from Minitüb Germany, Dr. Frank Müller-Schlösser, Product Manager Bovine, and Marc Birkefeld, Area Sales Manager for Indonesia. The seminars included discussions on the latest developments in assisted reproduction technologies and also focused on specific challenges that tropical climates pose to these technologies.

The first seminar was held at the Bull-Center of Lembang-Bandung, the first station for artificial insemination in Indonesia. The 2-day seminar was divided into two main subjects groups. The first, bull management and semen processing in tropical locations, the second, requirements and directives for semen processing and animal husbandry in certified artificial insemination centers. The seminar was attended by specially selected employees from the large bull stations of Indonesia.

The second seminar was hosted at the Institute for Reproductive Medicine at the University of Bogor and focused on common issues for veterinarians performing embryo transfer. Dr. Daniel Jillella, a highly respected veterinarian from Australian gave a lecture on modern embryo transfer. Additional topics included a detailed discussion of embryo sexing process using the Sex-Y Kit™, and the importance of determining progesterone levels in cattle and its implementation with eProCheck®.

The seminars included both a theoretical and a hands-on portion with sufficient time left over for high level discussion and debate. The attendants were also given numerous documents to have a support for the daily work, once the seminar is finished. We thank Minitube Indonesia and especially Dr. Zulkifli Harahap for the excellent preparation and organisation of the seminars, which certainly provided valuable knowledge for the participants' daily work and tasks.
